Art – Graphics – Animation

How i broke up with Adobe

A rotten story, beautifully presented. This is Art, man and machine in harmony, explaining why *kof* certain people do not stop to experiment, to explore the open source universe, to boldly hack on where most people think they can buy their way out of RTFM.

My story with Adobe is a bit different: bought Adobe Suite CS3 – verification servers went offline. So i’m supposed to buy a €2K set of software *again*? Fun really went out of it with the discontinuance of Flash, got good at that and then it just_stopped. Okay i know it was riddled with security flaws but that scripting was sweet, lots of games and animations were made in it. Same story with SVG: it was going to free ‘us’ from horrible CSS with its scalability. Alas, too much XML.

Had GPT4All write an SVG-plugin for WordPress: recently WP developers started fighting because one of them wants to go commercial.

THIS WEBSITE IS IN WP – I BOUGHT A TEMPLATE AND FONT FOR IT

This story never ends and the seemingly automatic repetition of it drives me absolutely nuts. Program gets made by lots of enthousiastic people who put their best efforts in it, then gets sold to the highest bidder and its merits, the work of its community absolutely gutted and sold in parts.

This guy knows what he’s doing and it shows, applause!
